This year, we’re celebrating 22 years of our business. What began as a family venture in Upminster in 2004 has grown into an established name for double glazing in Essex and London, helping homeowners improve their properties with new windows, doors, conservatories and glazed roofing. 

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we’re grateful to every customer who has welcomed us into their home, recommended us to friends or taken the time to share their experience.

From a family venture to an established glazing company

John Barnett, his wife Julie and their son Andrew founded Advanced Glazing Systems in 2004, building a family business around high-quality windows, doors and conservatories at a fair price.  

John’s glazing experience dates back to the late 1960s, when he helped his father sell products at Petticoat Lane Market. Andrew grew up around the trade, and that family experience continues to influence our approach today. 

Our wider team brings decades of experience too. Surveyor Peter Hanmore has more than 40 years in the industry, while installations manager Gavin Harris spent over 20 years fitting products before moving into management. Tyler Barnett joined us in 2021, continuing the family’s involvement into a third generation. 

Over the past 22 years, we’ve expanded our range to suit different homes, budgets and priorities across Essex and London. Whether you’re replacing ageing windows or creating a brighter living space, we aim to make the process straightforward, with clear advice, careful installation and first-class service from enquiry to aftercare.

Windows for traditional and modern homes

Over our 22 years in business, we’ve helped homeowners find windows to suit a range of properties. Our options include casement windows, flush sash windows, sliding sash windows, bay and bow windows, tilt and turn windows and heritage-style windows, with uPVC and aluminium options. 

Our double glazing uses two panes of glass and an insulating gap to help reduce heat loss compared with single glazing. We also offer triple glazing on selected products, which may improve energy efficiency and noise reduction, depending on the specification and your home. 

Front doors and bifold doors

Our range of products also includes composite doors, aluminium doors and uPVC doors, alongside French doors, sliding patio doors and bifold doors.

Over the years, our range has grown beyond windows and doors to include conservatories, roof lanterns, rooflights, glazed roofs, conservatory roof replacements and orangeries, giving homeowners more options for their home improvements.

As we reflect on our journey, maintaining customer confidence remains an important part of our business. Our accreditations and industry memberships provide additional reassurance about the standards we work to. 

We’re registered with FENSA, which monitors compliance with Building Regulations for replacement windows and doors in England and Wales, and TrustMark, a government-endorsed quality scheme for work in and around the home. 

Our Secured by Design accreditation applies to our uPVC, composite and aluminium windows and doors, recognising products that meet relevant security standards. We also belong to industry organisations and schemes including the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) and the Glazing Arbitration Scheme (TGAS).
